OUR STORY

Amy Rojek Founder & President

The Farm Chef Project was created by Amy Rojek, who has put her knowledge and experience with youth and young adults with learning disabilities at the forefront of her career. With a M.S.Ed. in Special Education and a certification in Family Consumer Science, she has been teaching since 2016, working with youth and young adults both in New York City and Connecticut. Amy has built her career engaging with a variety of learners both in and outside of educational settings, fostering lifeskill growth within academic learning opportunities. Amy believes that all youth requires a balance of technological and hands-on experiences in and out of physical school in order to foster growth in social skills, motor skills, and overall life skills.

The Farm Chef Project was created with all types of learners in mind - where youth with and without learning disabilities can benefit from outdoor, environmental education. This program provides life skill and social skill building, fostered through activities like gardening, harvesting, cooking, and eating new foods. This community based environment allows children to experience new learning opportunities while promoting their independence and making new friends.

OUR LOCATION

For the 2025-2026 season, we are proud to partner with the Academies at Danbury High School in Danbury, Connecticut. As Danbury High School transitions to its innovative academy model, the Farm Chef Project is collaborating with both the Academy of Professional & Public Service and the Green Academy. Our partnership provides comprehensive support including infrastructure development, ongoing maintenance guidance, and specialized curriculum resources that create meaningful cross-curricular learning opportunities for students.

Through this collaboration, we're helping students connect hands-on agricultural experience with culinary arts, environmental science, and career readiness—preparing them for future success while strengthening our community's food system.
